Throughout the whole year of 2016 makeup took an incredible twist, and we saw many trends taking place, this year youtube was a huge influence for makeup along with other social media platforms such as twitter and instagram.

1. Glossy eyelids

The first trend being glossy eyelids, it began mainly on runways and now it’s actually hitting mainstream makeup. It consists of a gel like material that you put on your eyelid after applying the eyeshadow you please, many companies are actually creating products so you can achieve this makeup look even easier. What seems to be appealing about this makeup trend and others is the “effortless” look that it provides and how easy it is to achieve it since it is more of a messy look. 2. “Kylie Jenner Lips”

      The Kylie Jenner lips was one of the biggest trends this year, as we all know the youngest Jenner got lip fillers and plumped her lips. Ever since  she got her lips done everyone wanted to, people even created a challenge called “The Kylie  Jenner Lip Challenge” in which people sucked the air from a cup and their lips got swollen. Since not everyone has money to plump their lips surgically what people do is over draw their lips so they have the appearance of them being bigger and then fill them in. Some of the best drugstore lip liners are from Milani and some of the best high end ones MAC which is actually the creator of the signature lip liner that kylie jenner wears in the shade “Soar”.

3. Cut Crease

 

Cut crease is one of the hardest trends to achieve of them all, it takes a lot of practice, skills and lots of precision. Cut creases can be achieved with matte eyeshadows and shimmers so it is very versatile. Some of the most known makeup artists who have perfected this look are Daisy Marquez  (girl from the picture above) and the very famous jaclyn hill. The two ladies run youtube channels in which you can watch them and learn how to achieve this look. One of the best drugstore palettes to achieve this look are the morphe palettes and some of the best high end ones are the too faced eye shadow palettes.

4. Liquid Liptsicks

Liquid lipsticks are basically the evolution of your normal lipsticks, because of their more liquid consistency and rapid drying method they are very popular, of course we can’t forget that they are long lasting as well. Almost everyone jumped on this trend as soon as it came out. They tend to be a   little drying but definitely worth the try. 5. Highlighter

Highlighter has definitely been THE BIGGEST makeup trend of this year, the whole year companies spent their money on creating more highlighters for all the makeup junkies. What highlighter consists of is a powder or cream that you apply in all the high points of your face, mainly cheekbones and nose to bring it out. The product is very  shimmery and reflective so you can see it from far away which is the whole point of it. It would be really hard to narrow it down to the best of the best in high end and drugstore makeup.
